Key Responsibilities:

Weather Observation Duties:

• Conduct visual weather monitoring and compile reports
• Provide special weather updates when conditions change
• Collect data from automatic weather stations (AWS) and rainfall stations (ARS)
• Maintain weather equipment and ensure data accuracy
• Submit reports according to schedule and client requirements

Client Relations:

• Maintain professional communication with stakeholders
• Represent SAWS at relevant meetings

Quality Assurance:

• Implement quality control procedures for weather data
• Ensure compliance with international standards (WMO/ICAO)
• Maintain workplace safety standards

Requirements:

• Matric Certificate with Mathematics and Science
• Weather Observers Certification
• Ability to obtain Aviation Meteorological Observation Certificate within 6 months
• Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
• Understanding of meteorological equipment operation
