- A commuted overtime contract is required, along with the ability to work after hours. You must have a valid driver’s license (Code B/EB) and be willing to travel.
- You need a qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Family Medicine.
- For Grade 1: No experience required after HPCSA registration as a Medical Specialist in Family Medicine.
- For Grade 2: At least 5 years of relevant experience as a Medical Specialist after HPCSA registration (or from a recognized foreign health council for foreign-qualified applicants).
- For Grade 3: At least 10 years of relevant experience as a Medical Specialist after HPCSA registration (or from a recognized foreign health council for foreign-qualified applicants).
- You should know about public health approaches to integrated family medicine services. Be able to work in multi-disciplinary teams. Have clinical, leadership, administrative, teaching, and mentoring skills. Be computer literate in MS Office. Show creativity to improve processes. Think in systems and innovate.

- This applies only to first-time registrations or changes in status with the relevant council. Applications will be kept for three months for similar vacancies in the Garden Route District, if the job title, duties, requirements, and salary match.
- You must be registered with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Family Medicine.
- Provide specialist family medicine care to patients of all ages in the Oudtshoorn and Kannaland Sub-Districts. Help with clinical governance in an integrated district family medicine service. Focus on community-oriented primary care (COPC) and innovations in primary care and chronic disease management.
- Teach and supervise junior doctors, allied health workers, generalists, and medical students in the Oudtshoorn and Kannaland Sub-Districts.
- Salary: Grade 1: R 1 341 855 – R 1 422 810 per year. Grade 2: R 1 531 032 – R 1 623 609 per year. Grade 3: R 1 773 222 – R 2 212 680 per year. Part of the package can be adjusted to your personal needs.
