Unitrans is seeking a Master Driver to join our team. In this integral role, you will provide hands-on job-readiness training and operational support to new drivers, ensuring they are equipped with the practical skills and site-specific knowledge required to excel. As a Master Driver, you will play a critical part in maintaining Unitrans’ high operational standards, focusing on safety, efficiency, and professionalism. Minimum Requirements
- Minimum qualification: Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4
- Experience in a similar training role: at least 1 year
- Proven experience as a professional driver with strong operational knowledge
- Previous experience in driver training or mentoring is an advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safety and quality standards
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver practical driver training tailored to operational needs
- Assess and mentor new drivers to ensure job readiness
- Provide site-specific training and guidance
- Support operational teams in upholding safety and compliance standards
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Conduct practical job-readiness coaching for new drivers, including direct support on deliveries to new sites
- Provide tailored training to ensure drivers are equipped for on-site demands and route-specific challenges
- Work alongside SHERQ to conduct thorough site and route assessments
- Provide insights during incident and accident investigations to help address root causes and implement corrective actions
- Conduct contract-specific training, including vehicle and product handling familiarization, covering regulatory and customer requirements
- Monitor driver certification and ensure compliance with job-specific safety requirements
- Submit regular coaching and training reports to the Contract / Depot Manager to provide visibility on driver readiness and competency
- Use telematics and DriveCam data to guide performance coaching on safe driving, fuel efficiency, and operational requirements
- Provide feedback and training based on data insights to improve driver performance
