The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness provides public healthcare services to the people of the Western Cape province in South Africa.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Medical Officer after registering with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
• A relevant qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.
• Strong business skills with proven ability in clinical management of health services.
• Proven management skills in a healthcare setting.
• Computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet, and email.
• Experience in managing clinical services.
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
• Willingness to work after hours.
• A valid driver’s license (Code B/EB).

Key Responsibilities

• Manage health services strategically and operationally at Harry Comay Hospital, George Primary Health Care Services, and Uniondale Hospital.
• Ensure safe clinical services that follow national laws and best practices.
• Develop systems for quality assurance in the sub-district to support patient care, meet national standards, and improve information management.
• Support the Director’s office by using resources effectively, including staff, budget, facilities, and technology, to deliver health services.
• Build partnerships inside and outside the sub-district to address health needs and promote wellness.

Salary: Grade 1: R 1 422 810 – R 1 576 977 per annum. Part of the package can be adjusted based on personal needs.
