Qualification: Matric/Grade 12

Experience: Minimum 2 years relevant experience

Purpose of the Job

The Locomotive Driver is responsible for manoeuvring trains between the exchange yard and loading/offloading points at various business units within Sasol Secunda.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete training programs, including site orientation, theoretical training at the academy, and practical shifts under supervision.
• Shunt and haul trains within Sasol Secunda boundaries.
• Operate trains efficiently according to schedules and safety regulations to ensure timely delivery of freight.
• Perform administrative duties related to train operations.
• Ensure the safety of the train, adhering to safety standards and regulations.
• Provide clear instructions to the Rail Operator and supervise footplate activities.
• Communicate effectively under pressure and cooperate with the Rail Controller during abnormal conditions.
• Move loads ranging from 40 to 71 wagons, including containers and hazardous materials.

Requirements

• Matric/Grade 12 qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
• Competency certificate for Locomotive Drivers.
