Job Description: Line Haul Driver – Skooch – Polokwane

The JD Group is a leading diversified mass consumer financier and retailer in South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Line Haul Driver to join our team in Polokwane.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transport freight between hubs and distribution centers.
• Ensure timely pickups and deliveries while following all transportation laws and company policies.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good condition.
• Secure loads properly to prevent damage during transit.
• Maintain accurate logs of working hours, mileage, and load details using electronic devices.
• Adhere to safety protocols and traffic regulations to ensure safe operations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and report delays, issues, or accidents promptly.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
• Follow company policies for handling freight and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Valid Driver’s License (Code 14).
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in long-haul or regional driving.
• Clean driving record with no major violations.
• Ability to operate GPS and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
• Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to lift and secure freight as needed.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with trailers.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for truck troubleshooting.
• Previous experience in logistics or freight transportation.
