Minimum Required Qualification:

  • Grade 12 certificate with at least English 5 (60%+), Mathematics 5 (60%+), and Physical Science 5 (60%+).
  • University acceptance with an APS of 23. Mid-year results will be considered if you are still studying.
  • Not currently studying or have not completed prior university studies.

The Appointee Should:

  • Be medically fit to work in the specific business area.
  • Have a clear security screening record.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license (if applicable).
  • Reside in the labour sending area or local community.
  • Complete workplace orientation and underground exposure visits as part of the selection process.
  • Obtain an acceptance letter from the University of Johannesburg for final allocation.
  • Undergo clearance screening by the South African Police Services as required by the National Explosives Act.

Additional Requirements:

  • No prior experience is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme Objectives: Understand the programme objectives and tasks. Complete all modules within the specified timeframe. Escalate any queries or concerns. Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE): Adhere to all legal and safety requirements. Perform work according to standards, specifications, and training. Attend SHE meetings when required. Wear and use prescribed safety equipment. Identify hazardous situations, participate in risk assessments, and follow company policies.
  • Reporting: Compile progress reports for discussions with stakeholders. Report inconsistencies, obstacles, ideas, and recommendations.
