Job Summary
The Parliament of South Africa seeks a skilled Language Practitioner proficient in Xitsonga and English. The role involves delivering accurate translation, interpretation, and documentation services to support parliamentary processes.
Key Responsibilities
• Translate parliamentary documents between English and Xitsonga
• Provide real-time interpretation during parliamentary sessions
• Prepare error-free transcripts of debates (Hansard reporting)
• Contribute to terminology development in official languages
• Meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards
Requirements
• Grade 12 certificate or NQF Level 4 equivalent
• 3-year Bachelor’s Degree/National Diploma in Language Practice, Linguistics, or related field
• 2+ years’ professional experience in translation/interpretation
• Native-level proficiency in Xitsonga and English
• Computer literacy (MS Office, internet tools)
• Excellent typing skills and attention to detail
