Laboratory Assistant Position – Bothaville
Company Overview:
Vaal Central Water (formerly Bloem Water) provides bulk water services to municipalities and mining operations across the Northern Cape and Free State provinces.
Position Details:
- Employment Type: Full Time
- Education Requirement: Matric/NQF Level 3
- Experience Needed: 2 years in water treatment
- Location: Free State

Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze daily water samples (catchment, raw, and point-of-use)
- Conduct physical, chemical, and microbiological water testing
- Maintain laboratory equipment and quality control procedures
- Prepare test solutions and document results using IRIS system
- Coordinate sample transportation and processing
- Monitor treatment plant operations and report inconsistencies
- Ensure compliance with health/safety regulations and SANS 241 standards
- Manage laboratory inventory and supplies
Essential Requirements:
- Technical qualification in water treatment processes (with Maths & Science)
- Valid driver’s license
- Computer literacy
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices
- Strong attention to detail and safety protocols
