Overview

This role involves assisting with daily pre-release quality control (QC) sampling and confirmation testing of detonators. You will also help with detonator destruction on an ad hoc basis, testing of emulsion explosives, and other laboratory tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent

Experience

  • 1 year in quality control sampling and confirmation testing of detonators in a production environment
  • 1 year in a laboratory environment
  • 1 year in an explosives production environment

Duties

  • Assist with daily pre-release QC sampling
  • Perform confirmation testing of detonators and detonator assemblies
  • Administer test data
  • Capture and analyze video
  • Maintain good housekeeping and clean the laboratory
  • Follow minimum safety standards and procedures

Job Competencies

Job Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of production and quality control principles
  • Computer literacy (Excel)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Related Skills:

  • Physically fit and energetic with sober habits
  • Hands-on experience in explosives testing techniques (advantageous)
