Job Description

Start your journalism career with Media24. We have an exciting 12-month internship opportunity in Cape Town for digitally savvy journalists. This is part of the Media24 Graduate Programme, starting in February 2026. The internships will run across our media division, with placement at YOU magazine.

Apply if:

  • You have a degree or diploma in journalism, languages, politics, or media studies.
  • You love stories and storytelling, no matter the format or platform.
  • You can write well and are interested in digital media.
  • You can produce engaging videos that hold attention for more than 20 seconds.
  • You are comfortable shooting videos on a smartphone.
  • You are curious about the world and the people in it.
  • You are eager to learn and grow.

Some skills we need:

  • Strong storytelling skills in words and video.
  • The ability to work quickly and handle pressure.
  • The ability to find fresh angles on stories and generate original ideas.
  • Good general knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Strong knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and TikTok.
  • The ability to work in a team and follow direction from an editor.
  • Drive, energy, and enthusiasm.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Producing stories for YOU magazine.
  • Working on social media platforms in various formats, including video.
  • Helping the team upload content when needed.
  • Searching the web for interesting stories our audiences will enjoy.
  • Assisting with curating content or compiling newsletters that people want to read.
  • Helping produce and manage digital campaigns.
