Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 (NQF level 2).
  • 1 – 2 years of relevant experience in cash handling and customer care.
  • Preference will be given to City of Johannesburg residents; proof of residence will be required upon application.
  • Experience in a high-pressure public service environment is an added advantage.

Primary Function

The Station Assistant will execute sales, customer care, and stakeholder relations, along with other station-related responsibilities, to ensure the effective and efficient rendering of professional Rea Vaya services that exceed customer expectations.

Key Performance Areas

  • Execute pre-shift station inspection processes to ensure smooth station operations.
  • Perform pre-shift cash float and stock reconciliation.
  • Execute card sales and trip top-up processes in compliance with applicable policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Carry out sales-related banking processes according to applicable policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform customer care-related processes and procedures.
  • Foster effective stakeholder relations and communication in line with applicable policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor and control the use of allocated resources and assets in accordance with applicable policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Engage in activities related to inventory and financial management and control per applicable policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct station operations related to administrative and reporting activities.

Leading Competencies

  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic to intermediate numeracy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Basic First Aid certification.
  • Ability to address customer queries without needing to leave the customer’s side for better service.
