The City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, renowned as the most advanced commercial city in Africa, is seeking a Relief Worker to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the community while gaining valuable experience in library services.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Matric/Grade 12 qualification (NQF level 4).
  • Program Participation: Applicants who have previously participated in the program will not be considered.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in computer use is essential.
  • Availability: Must be able to work 40 hours per week.
  • Residency: This position is open to youth residing in the Johannesburg community, with only City of Johannesburg residents eligible to apply.

Primary Function

As a Relief Worker, you will assist the Senior Librarian/Librarian in delivering direct Library and Information Services to the public. Your responsibilities will include supporting all administrative operations of the library.

  • Assist with the daily administrative and operational tasks of the library.
  • Gain experience in public service and library management.

Successful candidates will possess the following skills:

  • IT Literacy: Proficiency in information technology and computer systems.
