Job Advert Summary

The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing the filling of selected slaker bunkers by operating associated conveyors and changeover points to maintain safe operating levels. The role includes offloading lime trucks, assisting with cleaning walkways, conveyors, and plant areas daily, and monitoring/operating sump pumps to prevent flooding in the lime plant. Additional responsibilities involve loading and off-loading trucks and bins and assisting with the shunting of railway trucks.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Basic understanding of the water treatment process.
• Safety training is essential.

Primary Duties

• Slaker Bunker Management: Select slaker bunkers and ensure all conditions are correct by measuring bunkers daily. Conduct visual checks on limit switches and facilitate the filling of bunkers and off-loading of trucks.
• Conveyor Operation: Select conveyors for filling bunkers as requested by checking the condition of conveyors and dust extraction units. Start the conveyor sequence and dust extraction units. Monitor for conveyor overloads and report issues to the operator. Clean any spillages from the conveyor.
• Sump Pump Monitoring: Operate and monitor sump pumps by manually stopping/starting them to prevent flooding in the lime plant.
• Housekeeping: Ensure the lime plant is kept clean, and address any spillages immediately. Conduct general housekeeping duties around the lime plant.
• Loading Operations: Assist in loading trucks and help drivers safely load and offload crushed lime.
