Rand Water is seeking a qualified Heavy Vehicle Driver to support its Bulk Water Services operations. The role involves delivering and collecting transport plant equipment, goods, and transporting staff as needed across Rand Water’s areas of operation. This position is crucial to maintaining the efficiency and reliability of Rand Water’s service and infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the position:

• Education: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
• Licensing:
  • Valid EC/Code 14 driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Experience:
  • At least 1 year of experience driving heavy vehicles, including experience with horse and trailer operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Heavy Vehicle Driver will be responsible for:

1. Driving Duties:
   • Safely operate both rigid and articulated heavy vehicles for the delivery and collection of goods and equipment.
   • Transport Rand Water staff as required, ensuring adherence to safety and operational guidelines.
2. General Duties:
   • Perform any additional tasks necessary to support the efficient operation of Rand Water’s transport and distribution services.

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Licenses and Knowledge:
  • Proficient in operating heavy vehicles and holding a valid extra heavy vehicle license with PrDP.
  • Familiarity with the use of tie-down equipment and proper securing of goods.
• Skills:
  • Practical skills for handling and operating heavy vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Understanding the procedures for securing equipment and loads during transport.
