Position Overview

Conduct independent criminal investigations into tax and customs-related offenses while upholding SARS’ mandate as South Africa’s national tax authority.

Key Requirements

  • Job Type: Full-Time Permanent
  • Minimum Education: National Diploma in Law/Criminal Investigations/Forensic Auditing/Taxation
  • Alternative Qualification: Senior Certificate (NQF 4) with extended experience
  • Required Experience: 2-6 years in forensic investigations

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead criminal investigations into tax evasion and customs violations
  • Prepare case files for legal proceedings and testify as expert witness
  • Collaborate with National Prosecuting Authority and SAPS
  • Conduct forensic analysis of financial records and transactions
  • Maintain chain of evidence and investigation documentation

Essential Skills

  • Proven investigative techniques in financial crimes
  • Working knowledge of Tax Administration Act and related legislation
  • Advanced report writing and evidentiary analysis
  • Forensic accounting principles and fraud detection
