The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is committed to improving the lives of its residents through effective public service. This internship offers students the chance to work directly with the Human Settlements Department and contribute to meaningful projects that shape the future of our city.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in research projects and produce quality research reports.
  • <liSupport policy development by gathering baseline data and drafting policy documents.

    <liCoordinate forums, stakeholder engagements and public participation processes.

    <liProvide administrative support to ensure smooth operations within the directorate.

Learning Opportunities

  • Develop strong administrative and organisational skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (NQF level 4) plus an NQF level 7 qualification in one of the following fields: Housing, Human Settlements, Public Administration, Public Policy, Development Studies, Law, or a related Social Sciences discipline.
  • Only residents of the City of Johannesburg will be considered.

  • ICT literacy – proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • English language literacy – reading and writing.
  • Knowledge of the public service sector.
  • Understanding of the Human Settlements environment and its challenges.
