Internship: Internal Audit

Key Purpose

As an Internal Audit Intern, you will help carry out internal audit tasks. This includes checking operational processes, spotting risks, and reviewing how well internal controls work. You will support senior auditors and help improve governance, risk management, and compliance.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • BCom, BTech, or Bachelor’s degree in Internal Auditing or Finance
  • Two years’ experience in internal or external auditing is a plus
  • Knowledge of audit methods and internal controls is helpful
  • Familiarity with data analysis and Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel for audit work

Skills and Competencies

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving: Strong attention to detail and critical thinking
  • Communication: Good English skills (Afrikaans is often helpful)
  • Interpersonal Skills: Team player, open to feedback, and good at building relationships
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Report Writing: Skill in writing clear and concise audit reports
  • Ethics and Integrity: High professional standards and respect for confidentiality

  • Help plan and conduct internal audits
  • Review internal controls and operational processes
  • Identify risks and suggest improvements
  • Prepare audit working papers, findings, and reports
  • Support senior auditors in carrying out audit programs
  • Join client meetings to discuss findings
  • Ensure audit documents meet quality standards
  • Handle administrative tasks for audit projects
