Internship: Food Value Chain

Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12/NQF Level 4 certificate
- Diploma/Degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, or related field
- Must reside within Johannesburg city limits
Role Purpose:
Support smallholder farmers and food processors in transitioning from basic farming to value-added production. Focus on quality standards, market access, and sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate training programs for food safety (HACCP) and quality standards (SABS)
- Help farmers develop value-added products from raw agricultural materials
- Organize regional agricultural market days to connect producers with buyers
- Assist in creating market-led production plans for farmers
- Collaborate with local partners to improve supply chain efficiency
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Passionate about agricultural development
- Strong communication skills for working with rural communities
- Basic understanding of food processing and quality control
