Information Technology Practitioner – 4 Posts (5-Month Contract)

  • Salary: R325 101 – R382 959 per Annum (Level 7)

Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Information Management, Public Administration, or a related field recognized by SAQA.
  • 1–2 years of experience in information management or health information systems.

Knowledge of:

  • DHIS software, Tier.Net, and EDR Web.
  • National Health Information Systems in South Africa (NHISSA) and District Health Management Information System (DHMIS) frameworks.
  • Computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Leadership and team supervision skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Duties:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual HAST and DORA reports for all health facilities.
  • Track and ensure timely data submission, and check data quality for timeliness, completeness, rates, and accuracy.
  • Act as the Provincial Tier Key Implementer and provide technical support for Tier.Net, including troubleshooting and working with the National Department of Health.
  • Offer support for Health Information EDRWeb, helping sites with data entry issues and system use.
  • Train users on Tier.Net and EDR as a trainer for all involved parties.
  • Assist district and sub-district staff with data problems and ETR technical support.
  • Handle and review HAST program data to spot errors, gaps, or mistakes.
  • Help prepare facilities for audits by following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Give regular updates to districts on data reviews, performance, and progress on targets.
  • Check Tier.Net progress monthly at district and facility levels.
  • Prepare reports before submission to fix data quality problems from districts.
  • Share information with districts and sub-districts on training plans and feedback from provincial sessions.
  • Organize meetings and workshops to improve data handling and reporting.
