Information Officer – 2 Posts (5-Month Contract)

Salary: R325 101 – R382 959 per annum (Level 7)

Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Information Management, Public Administration, or a relevant qualification recognised by SAQA.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in information management or health information systems.

Knowledge of:

  • DHIS software, Tier.Net, and EDR Web.
  • National Health Information Systems in South Africa (NHISSA) and District Health Management Information System (DHMIS) frameworks.
  • Computer literacy with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • A valid driver’s licence.

Duties:

  • Compile HAST monthly, quarterly, and DORA reports for all facilities.
  • Maintain and monitor timely data submissions and compile data quality indices measuring timeliness, completeness, submission rates, and accuracy.
  • Serve as Provincial Tier Key Implementer and Tier.Net technical support personnel, providing troubleshooting support and liaising with the National Department of Health (NDoH).
  • Provide provincial Health Information EDRWeb support, assisting sites with data capturing challenges.
  • Act as Tier.Net and EDR trainer, conducting training sessions for stakeholders on system use and reporting procedures.
  • Support district and sub-district personnel with data management issues and ETR technical problems.
  • Manage and analyse HAST programme data, identifying outliers, missing data, and incorrect reports.
  • Assist in facility audit readiness by strengthening adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and improving data quality.
  • Provide regular feedback to districts on analysed data and progress towards set indicators and targets.
  • Monitor Tier.Net progress monthly at district and facility levels.
  • Compile pre-submission reports addressing data quality issues raised by districts.
  • Communicate with districts and sub-districts on training sessions and provide feedback from provincial-level training.
  • Coordinate meetings and training workshops on data management and information quality improvement.
