Main Purpose of the Job

  • Attend to site-based emergency calls and provide medical care within your scope of practice.
  • Appointment depends on passing a physical fitness and medical assessment.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Prepare for emergency calls to ensure readiness.
  • Give patient care according to your scope of practice.
  • Deliver professional emergency services to clients at industrial sites.

Required Education

  • Essential: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care.
  • Desired: Training on Clinical Practice Guidelines from the Health Professions Council of South Africa is a plus. If you do not have this at application, you must complete it during your probation period if hired.

Required Experience

  • Essential Minimum: 1 year in EMS.
  • Desired: 1 year in Intermediate Life Support (ILS).

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of local facilities, travel routes, and areas.
  • Knowledge of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Familiarity with the EMS environment.
  • Good proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Skills in completing Patient Report Forms.
  • Awareness of Occupational Health and Safety (OSH Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, and risk management).
  • Application of best practices.
