Main Purpose of the Job
- Attend to site-based emergency calls and provide medical care within your scope of practice.
- Appointment depends on passing a physical fitness and medical assessment.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Prepare for emergency calls to ensure readiness.
- Give patient care according to your scope of practice.
- Deliver professional emergency services to clients at industrial sites.
Required Education
- Essential: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care.
- Desired: Training on Clinical Practice Guidelines from the Health Professions Council of South Africa is a plus. If you do not have this at application, you must complete it during your probation period if hired.
Required Experience
- Essential Minimum: 1 year in EMS.
- Desired: 1 year in Intermediate Life Support (ILS).
Required Job Skills and Knowledge
- Understanding of local facilities, travel routes, and areas.
- Knowledge of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
- Familiarity with the EMS environment.
- Good proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Skills in completing Patient Report Forms.
- Awareness of Occupational Health and Safety (OSH Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, and risk management).
- Application of best practices.
