Main Purpose of the Job

  • Attend to emergency calls on industrial sites and provide medical care within your scope of practice.
  • Appointment to this position depends on passing a physical fitness and medical assessment.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Ensure readiness for emergency calls.
  • Provide patient care according to your scope of practice.
  • Deliver professional emergency services to clients on industrial sites.

Required Education

  • Essential: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care.
  • Desired: Training on Clinical Practice Guidelines from the Health Professions Council of South Africa is a plus. If you do not have this at the time of applying, you must complete it during your probation period if hired.

Required Experience

  • Essential Minimum: 1 year of EMS experience.
  • Desired: 1 year of Intermediate Life Support (ILS) experience.

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of facilities, travel routes, and local areas.
  • Knowledge of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Familiarity with the EMS environment.
  • Good proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Skills in completing Patient Report Forms.
  • Awareness of Occupational Health and Safety (OSH Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, and risk management).
  • Application of best practices.
