About Us
The Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) is an independent oversight body monitoring correctional operations and protecting incarcerated individuals’ rights. We report to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee and Minister of Correctional Services.

Requirements
- Grade 12/Senior Certificate (mandatory)
- Computer literacy with attention to detail
- Valid recommendation letter from community organization (issued within last 6 months)
- Knowledge of Batho Pele principles & public service ethic
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily facility visits to engage with inmates and staff
- Monitor/report on incarceration conditions and critical incidents
- Document inmate complaints and mandatory reporting matters
- Support JICS officials during inspections and investigations
- Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports
