About JICS:
The Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) is an independent oversight body responsible for monitoring correctional facilities and safeguarding the rights of incarcerated individuals. We report directly to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee and Minister of Correctional Services.
Position Details:

Key Requirements:
- Valid Grade 12/Senior Certificate
- Computer literacy with strong attention to detail
- Current recommendation letter (not older than 6 months) from a recognized community organization
- Understanding of Batho Pele principles and public service ethos
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily facility visits and engage with inmates/staff
- Monitor and report on incarceration conditions
- Document cases involving inmate deaths, restraints, or use of force
- Support JICS officials during inspections and investigations
- Manage complaint resolution processes and administrative tasks
- Prepare detailed reports on findings and interventions
