JICS is a statutory body overseeing correctional operations and safeguarding the rights of incarcerated individuals. It reports directly to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Correctional Services and the Minister of Correctional Services.
Position Overview

- Education Requirement: Grade 12/Matric Certificate

Requirements
- Valid Grade 12/Senior Certificate
- Computer literacy with good data accuracy
- Current recommendation/nomination from a community organization (issued within last 6 months)
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Knowledge of Batho Pele principles
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
- Valid driver’s license preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct prison inspections and report critical issues
- Interview incarcerated individuals and correctional staff
- Manage complaint intake and digital recordkeeping
- Maintain case files and track resolution progress
- Prepare detailed monthly operational reports
- Analyze complaint trends and patterns
- Respond to public inquiries
