Organization Overview:
The Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) serves as an independent oversight body monitoring correctional facility operations and safeguarding the rights of incarcerated individuals. We report directly to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee and Minister of Correctional Services.
Position Requirements:
- Grade 12/Senior Certificate qualification
- Recent nomination from recognized community organization (within 6 months)
- Computer literacy with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Understanding of Batho Pele principles
- Valid driver’s license preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct facility inspections and urgent matter reporting
- Interview inmates and staff regarding complaints/concerns
- Maintain case management system and complaint database
- Produce monthly reports with statistical analyses
- Follow up on unresolved cases and queries
