Job Description

The Head of Strategic Sourcing will lead Transnet Port Terminals’ Head Office Strategic Sourcing department. The role focuses on securing cost-effective and sustainable supply solutions while ensuring high-quality service and compliance with governance standards. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the development and implementation of strategic sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings and productivity improvements across all procurement activities.
• Ensuring proper demand management, contract management, and service delivery to maintain a secure supply chain and minimize risks.
• Building and managing relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, to align with business objectives and B-BBEE goals.
• Monitoring and analyzing market trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and risk mitigation.
• Overseeing contract management to ensure compliance, timely delivery, and effective close-out of agreements.
• Maintaining high standards of governance, compliance, and operational efficiency to contribute to Transnet’s reputation and goals.

Key Competencies

• Strong expertise in Supply Chain Management, including forecasting, demand management, and strategic sourcing.
• Advanced negotiation and contract management skills.
• Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience in supplier development and B-BBEE objectives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Additional Requirements

• A valid Driver’s License (Code 08) is required.
• Willingness to work extended hours and travel extensively, both locally and internationally as needed.
