Essential Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum Honours or Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster (Risk) Management
  • Registration with Disaster Management Institute of Southern Africa (DMISA)
  • More than eight (8) years of experience in senior management within disaster management
  • Competency in the use of computer packages
  • Valid driver’s license

Key Performance Areas:

  • Map out current and future interventions to sustain and address all aspects of the disaster continuum. Submit reports to the immediate superior.
  • Monitor the adequacy of current training interventions by evaluating competency in workplace application. Prepare progress and assessment reports for the unit’s Skill Development Plan.
  • Plan and implement corrective measures to address deviations from financial regulations, audit requirements, and department procedures.
  • Investigate strategies, programs, and interventions to guide risk reduction, avoidance, and control. Submit reports to the immediate superior. Manage environmental degradation and ecosystems.
  • Disseminate communication strategies to create awareness and seek acknowledgment. Oversee the overall management of the Disaster Management Unit.
