Duties (Key Result Areas/Outputs):

  • Manage academic governance for all undergraduate programmes according to relevant laws, regulations, and the annual performance plan.
  • Coordinate and support multi-campus nursing education and training to meet Council on Higher Education review standards.
  • Handle people management tasks.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Arrange clinical learning opportunities for students between the college and clinical sites.
  • Oversee the teaching and learning of nursing programmes.
  • Help develop and update nursing curricula for undergraduate diploma programmes.
  • Implement new nursing programmes that follow South African Nursing Council (SANC) and Council on Higher Education (CHE) standards.
  • Take part in all college governance structures.
  • Coordinate research activities and promote the college’s image.

Experience:

  • At least 9 years of relevant nursing experience after registering as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
  • At least 5 of those years must be in Nursing Education after completing a 1-year post-basic qualification in Nursing Education.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

  • Basic R425 qualification (diploma or degree in nursing) accredited by the SANC, or an equivalent that allows registration as a Professional Nurse and Midwife (or Psychiatric Nurse where needed).
  • Relevant Master’s degree (NQF Level 9).
  • Post-basic qualification in Nursing Education registered with the SANC.
