The Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) is a government agency under the Department of Small Business Development. We provide non-financial support to small businesses and cooperatives through 54 branches and over 100 incubation centers nationwide. Our services include business development support, compliance guidance, and access to resources for entrepreneurs.
Position: Group Company Secretary
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Pretoria, Gauteng
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on corporate compliance, governance, and regulatory matters
- Coordinate board activities including meeting schedules, agendas, and documentation
- Facilitate board member onboarding and ongoing development programs
- Develop governance frameworks aligned with PFMA, Companies Act, and King IV principles
- Monitor compliance with financial sector regulations and reporting requirements
- Prepare board performance assessments and improvement strategies
- Manage legal risk identification and mitigation processes
- Oversee department resources including staff, budgets, and assets
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or related field (NQF Level 7)
- Chartered Governance Professional (CGP) certification (required)
- Postgraduate qualification in Law or Governance (advantageous)
Experience Requirements
- 8+ years in corporate governance/board administration
- 5+ years in senior leadership roles
- Experience in financial sector compliance (preferred)
