What is an Internship?

As approved by Cabinet in December 2002, an internship is a public service graduate work experience programme aimed at unemployed graduates. It provides students with practical workplace experience and an opportunity to apply the skills they have studied for their future careers.

Who Can Benefit from the Internship Programme?

  • Unemployed South African graduates from higher education institutions who have completed their degrees or diplomas.
  • Unemployed graduates with no prior work experience in their field of study.
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • The internship positions are based at the CIPC Self-Service Centres: 2 in Pretoria and 2 in Johannesburg.
