Government Printing Works
The Government Printing Works is looking for experienced and skilled individuals to apply for the position of Digital Printing Operator. This role requires candidates with in-depth technical knowledge of digital printing processes and equipment. The successful applicant will be responsible for operating advanced digital printing machinery and ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality.
Job Requirements
Applicants for the position must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum qualification: Grade 10.
- Completion of an apprenticeship in the printing trade with a Trade Test Certificate in Lithography, Rotary Web-Fed Offset, or Continuous Stationery.
- A Grade 12 certificate will be an added advantage.
- Five (5) years of post-qualification experience operating multi-colour printing presses.
- Strong technical knowledge of printing processes and equipment.
- Willingness to work shifts and extended hours as needed.
Key Responsibilities
The Digital Printing Operator will be responsible for:
- Operating digital printing equipment with online and offline finishing functions.
- Preparing and making the printing press and finishing lines ready for production.
- Assisting with the prepress processes for all digital printing files.
- Providing technical printing advice and solutions to improve process flow and product quality.
- Enhancing the efficiency and productivity of printing processes, ensuring consistent, high-quality output throughout.
- Performing basic equipment maintenance and ensuring that all printing equipment is serviced according to the OEM requirements and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensuring strict adherence to quality assurance and control processes throughout the printing operations.
