The Role

This role aims to maintain and extend the life of Ground Engaging Tools (GET) equipment according to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and standards. The goal is to ensure an effective performance contract through machine availability, strong customer relations, and safety, health, and environmental effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct drill rig evaluations to check if drilling parameters (such as rotation, feed, and air pressure) are correct. Alert the machine operator to make adjustments when needed.
  • Inspect and test GET equipment based on OEM standards and specifications.
  • Identify faults on GET equipment and report them to your supervisor for action.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on hammers to extend equipment life.
  • Analyze all Sandvik rock tools removed from machines to find the cause of failure.
  • Complete a failure analysis report for every rock tool examined.
  • Conduct regular scrap analysis and ad-hoc investigations to determine reasons for premature product failure.

Your Profile:

  • Grade 12 / N3 technical / equivalent qualification (NQF Level 4).
  • GET Level 1 & 2 certificate of competence (advantageous).
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Valid code 10 driver’s license with at least two years of driving experience.
  • Physical and medical fitness to work in a mining environment.
