General Worker (Mechanical) – Graaff-Reinet

Description

The Role

You will assist the fitters and maintenance manager with daily maintenance activities. Your goal is to keep equipment, facilities, and workspaces safe, functional, and ready for use.

What You Will Do

Maintenance and Repairs

You will handle general maintenance tasks, such as:

  • Spray-painting shelving
  • Basic welding repairs
  • Grinding tiles
  • Other ad hoc maintenance activities as needed

You will also help with routine and preventative maintenance, including:

  • Fixing air and water leaks
  • Replacing bearings
  • Inspecting silos for leaks, water pressure, and drainage
  • Assisting with repairs to extruders, dryers, and Nerak elevator buckets
  • Cleaning and maintaining coating machinery

Hygiene, Housekeeping, and Occupational Health and Safety

Safety and cleanliness are key priorities. You will:

  • Follow Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Food Safety standards (FSSC 22000) at all times
  • Spot health and safety hazards and take corrective or preventative actions
  • Report any hazards or risks to management right away
  • Maintain high personal hygiene standards

To keep work areas neat and compliant, you will:

  • Clean and sort tools and equipment
  • Store materials safely in the workshop
  • Apply clean-as-you-go principles every day

Requirements

What You Bring

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (Code B) is a plus
  • 1–2 years’ experience in maintenance or a similar hands-on role
