Job Description

Midas is searching for a General Worker to join the warehouse department in Estcourt. The main purpose of this position is to perform general warehouse duties such as stock taking, binning, picking, packing, checking, moving stock, and ensuring that the warehouse is always kept clean.

Specific Role Responsibilities

Binning

• Ensure that incoming merchandise is binned, and inventory is replenished from bulk to pick locations as per standard operating procedures.
• Allocate bin location numbers for new products in the correct warehouse area.
• Update bins and report any stock allocated to new bin locations to your superior.
• Assist in replenishment functions.
• Ensure that all incoming goods are received and checked according to company standards.

Picking

• Pick customer and branch orders promptly to meet order cut-off times.
• Pick from bulk locations only when stock is depleted and not yet replenished or when picking bulk orders to prevent breakage of pack sizes.
• Follow all reasonable and lawful instructions given by your superior.
• Adhere to relevant procedures to increase efficient customer satisfaction.
• Assist in stock taking procedures.
• Maintain daily housekeeping.
• Perform double checks to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and prevent inventory loss.
• Achieve set standard operational targets consistently.

Scanner Control

• Issue scanners to all operators daily.
• Book out scanners using an electronic app.
• Receive scanners back from operators, inspect for damage, and book them back into stock via the electronic app.
• Report any damage to the supervisor.
• Complete the daily scanner issue spreadsheet.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 or equivalent in Literacy and Numeracy.
• 3 years of experience in a warehouse and/or logistics environment is desirable.
• Knowledge of spares, motor or engine parts, warehouse systems, and procedures is an advantage.
