Requirements and Expectations

Minimum Requirements

  • ABET Certificate (Adult Basic Education and Training).
  • Knowledge of general work practices, including the handling of tools, equipment, and appliances.
  • Understanding of gardening tasks, including lawn care, pruning, and trimming processes and techniques.
  • Ability to perform manual labour and operate basic maintenance equipment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform general assistant duties as assigned.
  • Load and offload equipment, materials, and supplies as required.
  • Conduct fencing and weed control activities, including the use of herbicides such as Roundup.
  • Carry out garden maintenance, painting, and cleaning tasks around the facility.
  • Support maintenance of dam premises, canals, pipelines, servitudes, terrain, and buildings.
  • Assist in fire prevention and extinguishing veld fires when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and all safety standards.
  • Undertake other general duties as and when requested by supervisors.

  • Preference may be given to candidates residing within the local area of Rhenoster Rivier.
