Purpose of the Job

  • Perform laboring tasks to support logistics, including preparing equipment for loading and unloading products and chemicals, and handling general housekeeping duties.

Key Responsibilities

Safety

  • Identify and use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
  • Take part in emergency preparedness exercises.
  • Inspect safety equipment regularly and maintain it as needed.
  • Conduct behavioral-based safety observations when required.
  • Follow all safety and work standards.
  • Carry out integrated management system (IMS) inspections.

Housekeeping

  • Clean plant areas, benches, floors, PPE, glassware, and other items as instructed.
  • Perform cleaning tasks according to a planned routine.
  • Pack materials in storage areas as directed.
  • Handle, stack, and store chemicals or dangerous materials safely, if applicable.
  • Handle, store, and transport gas cylinders safely, if applicable.
  • Pack materials in storage areas following a planned routine.
  • Load and unload vehicles.
  • Keep the work area neat and tidy.
  • Complete tasks under direct supervision.
  • Follow planned tasks.

General

  • Assist team members with specific tasks in their areas.
  • Carry out discipline-specific activities as instructed.
  • Deliver messages and parcels when needed.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Use hand tools and equipment safely and correctly.
  • Handle process chemicals and glassware safely, if applicable.
  • Perform other related tasks as requested by senior staff.

Formal Education

  • Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics and Science.
  • Code EC1 driver’s license.
  • Forklift driver’s license is an advantage.

Working Experience

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.
