Requirements
To qualify for this position, you need:
- An ABET Certificate.
- Higher qualifications are an advantage.
- Experience in manual work is an advantage.
Key knowledge and skills include:
- Basic knowledge of handling equipment and appliances.
- General work, including lawn care.
- Pruning and trimming techniques.
- Use of chemicals, including dilution and mixing.
- Daily maintenance of machines and equipment.
- Support for water utilization and resource strategies.
- Health and safety procedures.
- Garden maintenance and planting practices.
- Basic understanding of government legislation.
- Willingness to work in or near rivers, dams, canals, and confined spaces.
Duties
Key performance areas include:
- Assisting with loading and unloading furniture, equipment, and goods.
- Cleaning government vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
- Keeping workstations and work areas clean.
- Cleaning lawns and pruning trees as needed.
- Maintaining grounds, canals, and similar areas.
- Repairing tools and structures like buildings, fences, and benches using hand and power tools.
- Mixing, spraying, or spreading fertilizers.
- Maintaining sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters, and other ground features.
- Caring for sod, plants, and trees in grounds and gardens.
- Raking and mulching leaves, and irrigating plants and lawns.
- Sweeping walkways and grounds, and cleaning buildings by sweeping and washing floors.
- Performing labor duties to support maintenance, repair, and construction of public infrastructure.
- Assisting with cleaning and repairing water supply systems like canals, drains, dams, and pipelines.
