General Assistant – Witsand

Requirements:

  • Grade 9 qualification (must be able to read and write)
  • Fit and healthy
  • Able to work in harsh weather conditions
  • Six months’ experience in a similar position recommended

Duties:

  • Maintain municipal roads
  • Remove weeds on pavements
  • Clean stormwater pipes, channels, manholes, and catch pits
  • Install and replace stormwater pipes
  • Spray herbicide
  • Operate bitumen sprayer, compactor, jackhammer, tar cutter, and compressor
  • Load and unload equipment
  • Open sewerage blockages
  • Maintain buildings
  • Clean open spaces, stores, machines, and vehicles
  • Read water and electricity meters
