Description
Overall Purpose of the Job
- To help the Forensic Services Department reduce the effects of financial crime and misconduct. This is done through timely, high-quality investigations. The goal is to protect SACAA’s assets and interests, reduce risks, and provide excellent forensic services to stakeholders.
Main Outputs and Responsibilities
Forensic Proactive Service
- Help identify areas where fraud risk management can support management in reaching department goals.
- Assist in providing fraud training, awareness sessions, and campaigns.
- Help promote internal audit and forensic services in all engagements.
- Promote the fraud hotline.
Operational Function / Management
- Conduct assigned forensic investigations using the required methods and standards.
- Investigate and follow up on issues from fraud hotline reports assigned by management.
- Take part in interviews, collect statements or affidavits, and gather evidence for investigations.
- Analyze information, statements, affidavits, research, and evidence.
- Provide regular updates on investigation progress to the Senior Manager.
- Help with fraud awareness campaigns for SACAA staff and stakeholders.
- Prepare forensic investigation reports.
Document Information and Transaction Flow
- Understand the key parts of the areas being investigated.
- Maintain the chain of custody.
Assist with Implementation of Corrective Actions
- Prepare evidence to support recommended corrective actions.
- Investigate and provide evidence in tribunals for corrective actions.
- Help liaise with law enforcement agencies.
Perform Unscheduled Forensic Activities
- Assist the internal audit team when requested by management.
- Take part in fraud risk management projects when needed.
Communication and Stakeholder Management
- Keep investigation clients informed regularly and on time about the start and progress of investigations.
- Ensure all written and verbal communication with clients, peers, and superiors is accurate, regular, timely, and factual.
Requirements
Education
Minimum
- National Diploma in Forensic Investigation, Forensic Auditing, Law, or a relevant NQF level 6 qualification.
Ideal
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma at NQF level 7.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
Experience
- 1 year of experience in Forensic Investigation, Fraud Management, Fraud Risk Management, or Assessments.
