Requirements
- You must be able and willing to work shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and overtime when needed. You should be physically fit to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods.
- Experience in a large-scale industrial food service unit.
- General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) or Grade 9 (Std 7).
- Knowledge of cooking methods for normal and therapeutic diets in a large industrial food service unit. Understanding of hygiene, occupational health, HACCP, and safety principles.
- Good organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills to work with all staff levels. Computer skills in MS Office, good writing ability, and the capacity to work under pressure (include proof of computer literacy in your CV).
Duties
- Order, receive, store, and issue food supplies and stock in the food service unit.
- Supervise food preparation and production of full and therapeutic diets.
- Oversee weighing, dishing, and distribution of meals to wards.
- Ensure hygiene, proper use and maintenance of equipment, and compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
- Monitor adherence to rules, basic controls, and standard procedures.
- Supervise staff, manage finances, and control stock.
- Handle food statistics and maintain records.
Salary and Benefits
R 193 359 per year, plus benefits including a 13th cheque, employer’s pension fund contribution, housing allowance, and medical aid allowance.
