Requirements and Expectations

Minimum Requirements

  • An NQF Level 1 or 2 certificate, or another relevant qualification.
  • An N6 certificate or Diploma in Hospitality & Catering Services is an advantage.
  • Two years of experience in food preparation and serving is an advantage.
  • Three years of experience as a cleaner is an advantage.
  • The ability to work under pressure and in shifts, including overtime when needed.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Knowledge of food preparation and serving methods.
  • Understanding of inventory procedures, waste management, and quality control standards.
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules for food handling.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain kitchen utensils, appliances, and equipment.
  • Provide support for catering and food preparation services.
  • Keep accurate records of kitchen utensils and stock.
  • Follow strict hygiene and safety measures in all food handling and preparation areas.
  • Ensure quality control for all food served and keep food preparation areas clean.
  • Help prepare meals, snacks, and beverages, such as tea, coffee, water, and cold drinks.
  • Set up and clear crockery, cutlery, and equipment in dining areas.
  • Serve food and beverages to staff and visitors.
  • Assist with garbage disposal and report any waste or food losses.
  • Maintain a professional standard of service at all times.

  • Preference may be given to candidates who live in Gauteng Province.
