Financial Specialist (Budget Analyst/Accountant)
Position Overview
The U.S. Embassy & Consulates in South Africa seeks a qualified professional to join our team supporting foreign assistance programs across the Africa Bureau. This role offers the opportunity to manage significant financial portfolios while working with multiple government agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial leadership for foreign assistance programs (current portfolio: $4 billion)
- Manage Regional Financial Hub accounting systems for Africa Bureau operations
- Oversee annual budgets exceeding $4 billion and $100M obligated funds pipeline
- Conduct financial reviews and analysis for South African partner countries
- Evaluate implementing partners’ financial capacity and compliance
- Ensure adherence to U.S. accounting standards and local regulations
- Prepare detailed financial reports and recommendations
Requirements
Security Clearance:
Successful candidates must obtain required security certification/clearance
Professional Experience:
Minimum 5 years progressive experience in accounting/auditing roles
Legal Compliance:
All applicants subject to background verification
Selected candidate must be available to start within 12 weeks of clearance
