Finance Debtors Clerk

About the Role

The Finance Debtors Clerk will manage all debtor invoicing, collections and account reconciliations for the University of Pretoria. The role requires strong communication with customers and internal departments, accurate record‑keeping, and the ability to work independently and under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Issue debtor invoices and follow up on collections.
  • Allocate debtor payments to the correct accounts.
  • Reconcile debtor accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Send monthly statements to customers.
  • Prepare weekly cash‑up reports.
  • Perform other accounting duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 with Accounting as a subject.
  • Post‑graduate qualification in Accounting.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel is essential).
  • Proficiency in Pastel accounting software.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • At least 5 years of experience in debtors and debt collection.

  • Strong reconciliation skills.
  • Computer literacy and quick learning of new software.
  • Reliable, responsible and able to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Good organisational and multi‑tasking abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and take initiative.

Working Conditions

Full‑time, Monday to Friday. The position is based in Pretoria, Gauteng.
