Position Purpose
Lead strategic economic and spatial development initiatives to stimulate job creation, economic growth, and urban transformation across Mogale City.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive municipal economic development programs and spatial planning
- Develop and implement integrated rural/urban economic strategies
- Oversee enterprise development and SMME capacity building
- Manage land use systems and municipal property portfolio
- Coordinate sector development (tourism, agriculture, transportation)
- Ensure compliance with urban planning regulations
- Lead intergovernmental collaboration and stakeholder engagement
- Manage department budgets and governance frameworks
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning/Architecture/Economics + Postgraduate qualification in Local Economic Development
- 7+ years senior management experience in municipal economic development
- Expertise in spatial planning systems and MFMA compliance
- Proven track record in intergovernmental programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning
- Professional body registration (Town Planning/Architecture)
- 10+ years in municipal economic development leadership
- GIS proficiency and donor funding experience
