Examiner of Driver’s License

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Diploma in Traffic Officer.
  • Examiner of Driver’s License Diploma (Grade A).
  • Valid driving license (Code A and EC).
  • Registered as an examiner for driving licenses or as a NATIS user.
  • At least 2-3 years of practical experience as a driver’s license examiner.
  • Solid knowledge of the National Road Traffic Act.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of testing and licensing processes.
  • Ability to work long hours under pressure, interpret and apply policies, legislative frameworks, and national guidelines, plus strong report-writing skills.
  • Proven leadership skills and clear commitment to achieving council goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • General knowledge of the ENATIS system, administration, eye testing, and registering learner’s license applicants on the LicencePro System (for DLTC and RA).

Duties:

  • Assess applicants for learner’s and driver’s license tests according to the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1998.
  • Evaluate the driving skills of municipal vehicle drivers.
  • Test applicants for an Instructor’s Certificate through theory and practical assessments to check their teaching abilities.
  • Conduct eye tests using approved machines for all applicants.
  • Manage and oversee procedures for vehicle and driver testing, registration, and licensing.
  • Handle administrative tasks, record-keeping, and attend meetings.
  • Discuss key performance areas with the Superintendent to align functions and service delivery with the section’s capacity.
