The company provides power to various sectors, including industrial, mining, commercial, agricultural, and residential customers. As Eskom expands its infrastructure to meet growing energy demands, they are also committed to developing their workforce. In this regard, Eskom is looking to hire an Assistant Officer Human Resources (Talent and Skills Focus) at their New Germany Mkondeni office in KwaZulu-Natal.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma in Human Resources or Behavioural Sciences at NQF 6 with 240 credits.
  • 2 years of experience in a generalist HR role or within HR specialist areas, especially focusing on training and development.

Skills and Competencies

Leadership:

  • A team player who can motivate and support teams.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff to ensure growth and effectiveness within the organization.

Behavioral Attributes:

  • High levels of integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong customer focus, ensuring that HR services meet the needs of employees and line management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Knowledge:

  • A solid understanding of Human Resources processes, particularly in relation to talent management, employee development, and employee relations.

Skills:

  • Communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with employees and management.
  • Proficiency in facilitation and guiding teams through training and development programs.
  • Computer literacy is essential for managing HR systems and compiling reports.
  • A valid driver’s license (code 08) for travel within work areas.

Key Responsibilities

As an Assistant Officer Human Resources (Talent and Skills Focus), your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Advisory Service:
    • Provide advice to line management and employees on Eskom’s Conditions of Service, ensuring understanding and compliance with company policies.
  2. Employee Satisfaction and Organizational Performance:
    • Assist in initiatives aimed at improving employee satisfaction and overall organizational performance.
  3. Workplace Skills Plan:
    • Support in gathering data and contributing to the development of a workplace skills plan that meets the company’s training and development goals.
  4. Skills Sourcing:
    • Assist in the sourcing and management of skills in the area, ensuring that the business unit has the right talent in place.
  5. Labour and Employee Relations:
    • Provide support to line management to foster and maintain positive labour and employee relations.
  6. Management Information:
    • Assist in gathering and providing relevant management information to support decision-making in line management.
  7. Training and Development:
    • Help facilitate the implementation of training and development processes to ensure that employees’ skills are continuously improved.
