Introduction

This role involves manual, unskilled work across a range of heavy labour tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, holding and moving equipment. The successful candidate will work on earthworks at the Matla Site, supporting the construction team in a civil engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Erect and dismantle shuttering and support work.
• Place, compact, finish and repair concrete.
• Position, cut, bend and bind reinforcement.
• Participate in workshop toolbox talks.
• Adhere to SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) standards.

Skills

• Time management.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• Ability to compile a HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment).
• Conflict resolution.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Knowledge

• Familiarity with method statements.
• Basic understanding of safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to identify and use tools and equipment.
• Practical technical skills.
• Knowledge of OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act).
• Understanding of the BCCEI Main Agreement.

Minimum requirements

Qualification(s): Grade 12 or N3 Academic/National Qualification Framework (NQF) Level 4.

Experience: 1–2 years in construction or civil engineering, with technical field experience.
