Environmental Officer: Specialised Production – Biodiversity

Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture is dedicated to developing and promoting sport, recreation, arts, and culture. Our goal is to uplift the people of the Eastern Cape spiritually, intellectually, physically, and materially.

Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate plus a relevant Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Environmental Management, Natural Sciences, or a related qualification.
  • Experience as per OSD requirements; 1-2 years’ experience is an added advantage.
  • A valid driver’s licence is required.
  • Required skills and knowledge: National Environmental Management Act, Public Service Regulations, Public Service Act, NEMBA, computer literacy, good writing and communication skills.

Duties:

  • Provide specialised technical support for developing, maintaining, and implementing the district’s biodiversity management plan.
  • Offer expert advice to ensure compliance with coastal management legislation for institutions and developments.
  • Evaluate complex biodiversity and Coastal Zone authorisation applications and oversee compliance processes.
  • Provide specialised technical and procedural advice on biodiversity and Coastal Zone matters in the area of operation.
  • Handle administrative and related functions.
